School Outreach Program

Inspiring the next generation across Maiduguri schools

Growing up in Maiduguri, I knew I had to work harder to catch up with the tech exposure kids in the South got. At twelve, I was fascinated by websites like every other child and wanted to build one. But with fewer resources at my reach back then, learning was tough.

That's why I launched TechStudents - a mentorship and training program that aims to give students here in the North a chance to stay on the right path regardless of their location. This project is close to my heart because it's for my younger self, the version of me in secondary school who didn't get the opportunities he wished for early enough, and future tech leaders.

Ruby Springfield College

May 2025

"When are you coming to speak at my school?" My younger brother would ask me this every other week, hoping for the day he could point at me on stage and proudly say, "That's my brother."

That moment finally came when I spoke at Ruby Springfield College, Maiduguri, my alma mater. Visiting the school came with a lot of nostalgia. The students were very interactive and eager to listen. One of the highlights was hearing students shouting, "Legend!" as I walked up to the assembly stage.

A full circle moment: one of the selected students turned out to be the son of my first programming tutor. Now, I get to teach his son.

Shallara Secondary School

May 2025

Another inspiring visit as part of the TechStudents outreach program. I spoke at Shallara Secondary School, Maiduguri, connecting with students who have shown interest in technology and inspiring them to pursue their dreams.

These school visits are essential to identifying passionate students and giving them the support they need to excel in technology, regardless of their location or current resources.
